Course description

Common Equine Field Cases prepares people working with horses to recognise observable changes, protect immediate safety and obtain qualified veterinary help. It covers nine field presentations through case examples, critical red flags, safe response boundaries and structured handover practice. The blended route combines online study, a veterinarian-led case conference and supervised practical assessment. Learners work with observation records and a workplace action plan. The course does not authorise diagnosis, medication, invasive procedures or independent transport decisions. Online completion alone does not establish practical competence.

What will i learn?

  • Describe the learner's role boundaries and activate the EIEV veterinary escalation route without delay.
  • Use a structured distance-first observation to identify changes in behaviour, posture, movement, appetite, output and breathing.

  • Recognise red flags associated with common abdominal, musculoskeletal, wound, eye, swallowing, respiratory, heat and neurological presentations.
  • Select safe immediate actions and avoid actions that could worsen injury, compromise welfare or delay veterinary care.
  • Apply infection-control precautions when a contagious condition is possible.
  • Complete an accurate field observation and veterinary handover record.
  • Demonstrate the course escalation process in scenario-based and supervised practical assessments.
